Disappointment

Dropped by a bookstore the other day and was browsing some magazines. There was a Japanese NBA one which caught my eye so I decided to take a quick look. Mid-season awards and rankings were given out and I discovered that the Raptors found a place in the most disappointed team category. Fitting for sure I say. We're heading to the lottery once more!

More Dog Please

I don't think I'm ever going to get tired at the hysterically comedic English that is used here for signs, clothes, advertising, etc. This caught my eye last week and like a mature 24-year old I almost fell over laughing out loud.

Been holding back on getting a new pair of shoes since before Christmas so it might be time soon to adding another pair to the collection. There's a pair of Vans that I've been eyeing for a month or so now, perhaps that'll be the lucky pair that gets to grace my feet =P.

Jack's back... and so is Tony!

While the Tony spoiler alert for the new season of 24 was already leaked a couple of years ago the premiere of 24 this year was still as epic as ever. Parts of the first four episodes have already gotten me up off of my sofa in order to yell and point at my laptop in which only the way 24 can do. I really missed Almeida's character since he was definitely the most intriguing supporting role the show had previously offered.

Also being in the final stretch of my contract having 24 return for the year is going to make each week go by in a timely manner. If it could only somehow help with the decision I'm going to make though. I imagine it can though simply because Jack Bauer is capable of solving any problem.

誕生日 おめでとう ございます カイル!

Here's to you Kyle for being such a ROCK solid friend and looking out for me since I've arrived to Japan. Like we said before every week keeps getting better and I couldn't imagine what my experience here would be without you. Happy Birthday and thank you infinitely for everything you've done. You want a piece of me Japan?!? Bring it on! Haha, kanpai my friend!

Glorious Rice Wine

While everyone else in this picture had the focus to look at a camera for a few seconds I was long gone, my only thoughts tumbling towards just how delicious the drink in hand was. Damn. Hit me baby, one more time.

Empty Apartment

It only lasted 10 days but the feeling of waking up with an apartment full of bodies really grew on me over the holidays. This past holiday was everything I could have hoped for and more, and was exactly what I needed. But more importantly, everyone who visisted enjoyed themselves to the fullest. For the first time since arriving to Japan it made me a little homesick because I realized how much I miss spending time with old friends. It was a non-stop party for the time they were here... way too many glorious details, laughs, and anecdotes to list. Letting them go at the airport was the most difficult thing that I've had to do in quite some time =*[.

Resolutions

With 2009 upon us it's time to set out some new guidelines and resolutions to hopefully stick to and follow as best as possible. I'm usually not big on the resolution thing but I think this year I'll do my best to try and change that.

1) **** ****** *******
2) make smarter decisions
3) resist temptation
4) stop caring as much (lol kyle)

We'll see just how well this works out. Did you set any goals for 2009? I'm interested, tell me!

Dramatic Manga Reading Guy!

I've mentioned before how much I love Shimokitazawa because it's such a cool hip underground area with amazing restaurants and cool independent shops. Another fabolous addition to this area is Dramatic Manga Reading Guy. His title accurately describes him, as he sits outside the station reading Manga in the most dramatic fashion to the people who pass.

The crazy thing is he does different voices, sound effects, and even soundtracks. Back in Toronto this guy would probably be considered a threat to society or homeless. But here he's an icon to fans of Japanese comics. A Japanese friend tells me he's been on TV several times because of the amount of interest he generates. She had never seen him in person though up until a few nights ago. I salute you, Dramatic Manga Reading Guy! *high 5!

Shopping Shopping

New Year's week here for stores is the equivalent of Boxing Week back in Canada. Everything goes on sale like crazy and it's really hard to not buy anything. Most clothing stores have a 30% - 50% reduction and it's on both old and new items. This was the actual label of the clothes-- "Famouscrap". No joke. And for the record the clothing line actually looked half decent. If it weren't for me binge spending I would have picked up a few things here too. Also, one of my many New Year's resolutions is to resist temptation. Or at least make more of an effort to resist temptation. Wish me luck!

For the low price of ¥8,295 you can be the proud owner of Unlimited Ability. Whatever the hell that's supposed to mean...

The much anticipated Street Fighter IV will be released in about a months time. It's already been in arcades since summer and the gameplay is absolutely phenomenal. Unquestionably worth purchasing when it is released.
